Christmas Lights Switch On 2022

Wrapping up our year of events, the Christmas Lights Switch On & Festive Market is set to take place on Sunday 27th November 2022. Join us in Banbury Market Place to see Banbury's lights turned on for the first time of the festive season.

Christmas in Banbury will arrive this year with a spectacular three-day extravaganza, featuring Victorian Christmas Market*, Entertainment, Santa's Grotto, Street Food, Drinks, Fairground Attractions & much more!!

The Victorian Christmas Market will be on:
Friday 25th November 10am-8pm,
Saturday 26th November 10am-8pm
Sunday 27th November 10am-6pm.

The market will be located in Banbury Market Place, OX16 5QB. Head to OX16 5UN for convenient parking. 


The highlight for many people will be switching on of the towns new and exciting festive street lights, and decorated Christmas Trees, on Sunday 27th November at 5pm. The switch on is taking place on Bridge Street near to the Town Hall.

10am   Victorian Christmas Market*, Fairground Attractions, Santa's Grotto, Street Food & Drinks.

11am   Stage & Arena Entertainment

5pm     Lights Switch-On & Firework Display

6pm    Market Stalls Close 

This year's switch on guest, who will join Town Mayor Jayne Strangwood on stage, will be announced nearer the time. 

Stage & Arena Entertainment schedule will be published closer to the event too!

 

Fireworks Display - Attention Pet Owners!  Fireworks will be set off at 5pm and finished by 5:05pm. Bridge Street Park will temporarily be closed to the public during this time.  

*The Victorian Christmas Market is organised by Banbury BID, operated by LSD Promotions and supported by Cherwell District Council.

Christmas Light Show 2021



A series of magical seasonal films will see Christmas and New Year themed pictures beamed onto the Castle Quay façade in Cornhill.

The light shows will welcome Christmas and celebrate the New Year

They will be shown from 5pm until 9.45pm to encourage late afternoon shopping and boost the evening economy.

The video is described as wintery and classy and will depict Christmas with imaginative scenes and accompanying music.

The films are being specially designed to fit the ornate stonework of the Castle Quay entrance in Cornhill at the Parson’s Street end of the Market Place.
