Parks & Cemeteries Lead Operative
£23,620 - £24,948 Per Annum
Full-time Contract - 37 hours per week
The Council is also looking for a Parks & Cemetery Lead Operative to join our team delivering high standards of horticultural maintenance in the Council’s parks, cemeteries, closed churchyard and sports grounds. Duties include carrying out the maintenance of grass areas, shrub borders, hedges and flower beds, digging and preparing graves and keeping graves tidy.
The successful applicant will be a hardworking self-starter, enthusiastic, flexible, a good team player, and have the ability to lead other members of the team. You will be able to demonstrate proven experience working within the Horticultural Industry.
You will need to be prepared to work outdoors in all weathers, possess a full driver’s licence and have the knowledge and skills to use a wide range of machinery including a tractors and mechanical excavators, however, if not, you must have a wiliness to learn to use such machinery.

8.00am–4.00pm Monday to Thursday & 8:00am–3:30pm on Friday
The Job:
The Council is looking for a Parks & Cemetery Operative to join our team delivering high standards of horticultural maintenance in the Council’s parks, cemeteries, closed churchyard and sports grounds. Duties include carrying out the maintenance of grass areas, shrub borders, hedges and flower beds, measuring and marking out grave spaces, digging and preparing graves and keeping graves tidy.
The Person:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard working person to join our team. You must possess a full driver’s licence and have experience working as a gardener, landscaper or have worked in the construction industry as ground worker. Ideally using a mechanical excavator, however, if not, you must have a wiliness to learn to use such machinery.
The successful applicant must be prepared to work outdoors in all weathers and enjoy working as part of a team. You should have good communication skills as the role requires interaction with other funeral and cemetery staff. You will must have a caring and compassionate nature for dealing with the general public.
