Banbury Town Council provides public tennis courts at two locations within the Town.
Court bookings currently cost £4 an hour.
All slots between 3pm – 4pm from Monday to Friday can be booked free of charge. Please note that, in order to use the courts at this time, bookings will still be required for these slots.
People’s Park (centre of town)
There are two tennis courts located within the park. Thanks to a major refurbishment in 2024 these courts are ideal for use by experienced enthusiasts and beginners alike. These courts can be booked throughout the day, with a slot between the hours of 3:00pm – 4:00pm every weekday bookable free of charge.

People’s Park – Free Tennis
Are you looking for something to do on a Saturday morning? Come and join in with our FREE tennis sessions in People’s Park. There is no better time to get involved with our FREE tennis sessions in People’s Park from 11:00 – 12:00.
Since launching in Spring of 2025, these tennis sessions have been very popular, and demand is high! They have proved to be a fantastic opportunity for anyone – regardless of age or experience – to get involved in this popular sport and learn from some extremely talented experts! No need to bring a racket as we provide those too!
Free tennis sessions can also be booked Monday – Friday between the hours of 3:00pm and 4:00pm.

The tennis club has been in existence since 1973 and is the only tennis club in Banbury.
The club has a growing squad of juniors and an active senior membership supporting teams in the Oxfordshire and Banbury leagues and has also got a men’s Team in the National league this summer. So the Club can offer a range of levels of play. There is also a Cardio tennis session on a Monday night organised through Cherwell District Council. A small fee is charged for this.
The club is friendly and not all members want to play in matches, just come to the club nights through the summer and enjoy a pleasant drink in the bar to finish off the evening. With several club nights during the week, matches on a Wednesdays and at weekends and the occasional social event, there should be something for everyone.
The club operates all year round and several hardy members make use of the floodlit courts and play throughout the winter. Visitors are ALWAYS WELCOME. There is a fee for visitors who will be expected to join the club after three visits.
The back court is available for public use all year round.
