The next Banbury Town Councillor’s surgery will take place at Town Hall on the 4th October from 10:00am – 12:00pm. This serves as a great opportunity for Banbury residents to meet and communicate with their local representatives on matters that affect them and their local community.
A monthly staple throughout the year (excluding January and August), Banbury Town Councillor surgeries are opportunities for Banbury residents to meet Town Councillors and discuss any problems they may experiencing within the town. While Town Councillors are best equipped to listen to and act upon services overseen by Banbury Town Council, it should be noted that several Banbury Town Councillors hold seats on both Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council, the two other councils that oversee services in Banbury.
Banbury Town Councillor’s surgeries are open house sessions, meaning no booking or planning is required; residents are able to simply turn up and talk. The surgeries are part of Banbury Town Council efforts to encourage local voters to get to know their councillors.
The councillors present at each surgery depend on a set rota. This month, the two councillors will be Cllr. Mark Cherry of Ruscote and Cllr. Becky Clarke of Banbury Town Centre. Both councillors are members of the Labour Party.
Banbury Town Council’s responsibilities include Banbury parks and open spaces, as well as play areas, cemeteries, sports grounds, allotments, open spaces, bus shelters, annual town events, civic events, and the running of Town Hall. The Council also assists in numerous crime prevention initiatives.
While all residents are encouraged to attend surgeries personally, those that cannot make it to Town Hall on Saturday 4th October can rest assured that there will be numerous future opportunities to do so in the future. Banbury Town Councillor surgeries take place every first Saturday of the month except for January and August. This means that there will be many more opportunities to visit a surgery in the future, with the next date falling on the 1st November.
