People’s Park Café Reopens Under New Management

Banbury Town Council today marked the reopening of the popular café in People’s Park, under a new operator and brand.

Opening in time for the Easter weekend, the café will be welcoming residents and visitors alike and will be serving a variety of food and drink. ‘The Café’ celebrated its opening by giving away 100 free hot dogs and 50 free coffees to customers on a first-come, first-served basis.

While Banbury Town Council owns the People’s Park Café, it has agreed a lease with Muhammad Ahsan Suddal, an experienced independent operator, he intends to take advantage of the buildings unique character and will be offering a brand-new aesthetic, as well as an exciting menu offering park users a variety of hot and cold food , as well as a range of drinks including milkshakes, teas and coffees.

The new renovation process included the installation of a new covered area, ideal for use during the spring months when the weather tends to consist of short bouts of showers alongside mild-to-warm weather and plenty of sunshine.

This marks an exciting new chapter for the café, ensuring it continues to serve as a vibrant hub at the heart of the park. The timing of the opening coincides with the Easter weekend, the start of the parks busy season, offering the perfect opportunity for families, walkers, and visitors to enjoy the park alongside a relaxing stop at the café.

Located just off the Warwick, the café has been a staple of People’s Park since it opened, and is nestled close to the Warwick Road entrance of the park near to the aviary, rose garden and pavilion.
Town Mayor, Councillor Kieron Mallon, and Banbury Town Council Leader, Councillor Shaida Hussain, were both present to declare the café open to the public.

The Town Mayor said, “This is a win-win for Banbury, a few years ago we decided to re-use a derelict Victorian building and brought it back into the public realm, in doing so we also provided a base for an independent business to offer something different from the big brand cafes and food outlets, we wish the new operator well and encourage everyone to give it a try.”
