The 25th November is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Created by the United Nations General Assembly to raise awareness of the different types of violence that women and girls across the world face.
Banbury Town Council is proud to partner with Inner Wheel Club of Banbury in turning the Town Hall, Banbury Cross and the Fine Lady Statue orange in support of the Orange the World campaign.
This is in addition to other projects by the Inner Wheel Banbury group, in collaboration with other organisations across the town.
Today, a service of prayer was held at St Mary’s Church in Banbury, and tonight from 6pm the church will be open to anyone who would like some quiet time or to talk to someone.
At 7:30pm tonight, the Reclaim the Night walk around Banbury Town Centre will begin at St Mary’s.
Banbury Town Council earlier this year opened a new PlayZone at Princess Diana Park, commissioned specifically to provide women and girls’ sports groups across the local area a safe, welcoming and secure place to hone their sporting skills. In addition to this, the Space for Girls project will focus on providing facilities at PDP that are more gender-orientated. We look forward to seeing this project completed within the next 6 months.
